Free Estimates - It is important that a
representative from the moving company comes to your home and gives you a
moving estimate. Following your decision to relocate, you should contact Steedle’s to make an appointment with our
estimator at least six weeks in advance of your desired moving date. The
estimator can give an approximate idea of the cost involved and answer
any questions you may have. An estimate is especially important if access
to your property is difficult, if you think there may be a problem with
large pieces of furniture or if you have items that require special
handling and care.
In order to get an accurate estimate of the costs involved in moving, you
must show our estimator everything that you plan to pack or have moved.
The estimator will base the estimate of cost on this information. The
estimate is not the actual cost of the move. For local moves, all charges
will be based on the actual number of hours worked and the actual number
of cartons packed, if any. For long distance moves, the charges are based
on the actual weight of your household goods and the miles you are
moving.
Please note that our estimator will only see your current home. There are
potential circumstances that the estimator may not be aware of such as
long walks, small stairways, small elevators, trucks that cannot get
close to the destination residence, furniture that will not fit up the stairway.
Weather conditions like extreme heat, snow, ice, and rain storms can also
cause unexpected delays and additional cost to the move.

NOTES & TIPS
Always choose a reputable and qualified mover. There are movers of all
types and descriptions. Naturally the longer the company has been in
business, the more experienced and better prepared the movers will be to
move and care for your belongings. If you do not choose the right
company, moving day can be most hectic.
Plan ahead and order your moving service as far in advance as possible.
Do not wait until the last minute. Moving day can be a stressful
experience, especially if you are leaving a home you have lived in for
years. Take our advice, be ready in advance and be well rested so that
you will have a pleasant, tension free day.
Clean out your closets, cabinets, storage areas a few weeks before you
move. Throw away anything that is no longer of any value or of any use to
you anymore. Why pay to pack and move something you do not need?
If you are doing your own packing please remember that everything needs
to be packed, so do not wait until the day before your move to start. Be
ready to move when the van arrives.
